From Hardcore Meat-eater to Herbivore

07:36

Hey guys! So I decided to talk about something that may be a sensitive issue to some but I really think it needs to be brought up. I was on tumblr earlier today and a classmate of mine reblogged something that went like, "If you don't love animals, we can't be friends." I don't know if it's the fact that we once were really close but then we had a falling out and I'm still a little pissed at her or maybe it's the fact that she sounds like a hypocrite and hypocrites piss me off (Probably a little bit of both) but seeing that made me so angry I just had to rant a little on my blog.

People like her just piss me off beyond words. I just don't understand. How can you say you love animals yet you still eat them? Especially when you know how they're being killed so ruthlessly. She likes to talk a big game about how she would kill people that abuse animals but then she can still eat a steak right after? So what? Just because you aren't doing the killing that means it doesn't matter? If you love animals like you say you do, you wouldn't even eat meat. You should not just love your cat or dog but also the thousands of  innocent cows and chickens that get slaughtered everyday. Or are they not considered animals?

I was a meat-eater. All I used to eat was meat. I hated vegetables ( I still do actually) and I wouldn't even put it in my mouth. I told myself it was completely impossible for me to give up meat. Until one day, I watched a video on how a cow was being slaughtered and how the chicks were getting their tiny little beaks sawed or cut off. I was devastated. I cut meats like chicken and beef out 'cold turkey'. (No pun intended)

I became a pescetarian and I'm slowly becoming a vegetarian. Although I still hate vegetables, I just eat it anyway because why the hell not? I hope to someday become a vegan but that's going to take a while because being a vegan in Singapore is pretty damn hard. We don't have that much of a variety unlike in the U.S.

I hope the world will open their eyes and realise that we actually do not need meat to survive and the killing of these innocent animals are just so that big companies can make money.
